This year, the sum of LTL915.9 million will be allocated from the State Budget for the development of the Lithuanian road network and implementation of traffic safety measures.
Together with EU support funding, which will make up LTL270 million, the total investment into the national road network will be almost LTL1.2 billion.
“Investments this year will remain on the same level as in 2011. However the priorities … will be slightly different. Considering the comparatively good condition of the main national roads, prime attention in 2012 will be paid to regional roads going via minor towns and settlements,” Eligijus Masiulis, Minister of Transport and Communications said.
In regard to traffic safety this year’s funding of pedestrian and bicycle paths will more than double. Furthermore, almost LTL31.5 million will be allocated to the implementation of various road traffic safety programmes and education activities.
